HISTORIC MOMENT

Group-Photo.jpgVolunteers who witnessed the first steam
On the morning of the 11th October 2008 the fire was lit and the boiler warmed ever so gently. In the afternoon, Moorbarrow with 60 psi on the clock took her first tentative steps under her own power, commanded by James Wilson. For about 20 minutes he gently ran her along the engine shed road at less than walking pace. We are pleased to report that no serious problems were encountered, as this was the first time she had been in steam since 1972. On the afternoon of the 12th October her owner, Mr Graeme Walton-Binns and family visited to see his engine in steam. There is still quite a bit of work to do including a top coat of paint.
