ARRIVAL NORTH THORESBY
An historic event took place on 26 August 2008 when a works train pulled into the platform at North Thoresby. This was the first train to arrive at North Thoresby since 1980. The photograph at the crossing gate shows some of the volunteers who have worked so hard to achieve this goal. There is still a considerable amount of hard work to be done ballasting and tweaking the line before we can get the Railway Inspector in to approve the extension so it can be used for passenger traffic. We hope this will be achieved by Easter 2009. The ballast needed to complete the extension is going to cost in the region of £20,000.
