Work is progressing fast on the new loco inspection pit and trackwork at the south end of the engine shed.
The concrete for the pit walls was poured on Saturday 28th January and the following Tuesday four lorry loads of ballast and hardcore was delivered.
Once the concrete walls are set the shuttering, which can be seen in foreground of the photo, will be removed so that the surround can be infilled with the hardcore.
After three weeks the chairs which hold the rails can be fixed in place on the inspection pit and the ballast can be laid for the new point and two roads leading into the engine shed.
