Keeping the age of steam alive!

Walkers take the train

On Bank Holiday Monday 75 people, along with 12 dogs, took part in a special walking event held at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway.

The 5½ mile walk along the eastern edge of the Wolds started from Ludborough station and ended at North Thoresby, where the walkers caught the steam train back.

The ‘Take the Train’ walk was organised by Geoff Newmarch from the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival, who described the event as a big success.

“It was great see so many people come and take part”, said Geoff. “We were delighted that the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway were able to host one of our Wolds Walking Festival walks with the final leg on board a beautiful steam train. It really was an interesting way to plan a walk”.
